SoCo Altbier - All Grain

The SoCo Altbier is a light, hoppy, and refreshing German style ale.  This beer is red in color because of light amounts of chocolate wheat malt and caramunich.  The chocolate wheat malt adds color without adding harsher flavors that roasted and darker barley malts can bring.

• ABV:  5.0%
• OG 1.054
• FG:  1.016
• IBU:  35.1
• SRM:  14.2

This recipe kit DOES NOT  include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags.  However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page.  These yeasts may have different levels of attenuation which may result in slight variations in the final gravity.  This recipe was designed using WLP036 Dusseldorf Alt yeast.  Using one of the other recommended yeasts may results in a lower final gravity and slightly higher ABV.

Priming Sugar:  For priming sugar, we recommend the following:

• 5 oz Priming Sugar
• Carbonation Drops

Grain Bags:  If you need a grain bag, we recommend the following:

• Brew In A Bag Nylon Straining Bag
• Brew In A Bag Straining Bag With Handles. 

Hop Straining Bags:  If you need hop straining bags, we recommend the following:

• Small Muslin Hop Boiling Bag
• Fine Mesh Nylon Hop Bag With Drawstring.
