SoCo Old Ale - Partial Mash
An old ale is lower in alcohol than an English Barleywine, but it still has a high amount of alcohol. Our Old Ale recipe has an ABV of 7.5% and focuses on the malty flavors of the maris otter and crystal 80L.

This recipe kit DOES NOT include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags. However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page. These yeasts may have different levels of attenuation which may result in slight variations in the final gravity.
Yeast Pitch Rate: We highly recommend preparing a yeast starter or using 2 packets of yeast for this recipe due to the high original gravity (OG) in order to keep the yeast happy and healthy.
