Product Overview

SoCo New England (NEIPA) Juicy IPA - All Grain

Sometimes called the Vermont IPA, this recipe boasts strong tropical fruit aromas and flavors.  Flaked oats and wheat create a smooth, rich mouthfeel to balance the intense orange, lemon, and pear notes on the nose.  Flaked oats and flaked wheat provide enhanced body while Crystal 10L and Honey malts contribute mild caramel and honey sweet flavors.

Characteristics:

  • ABV:  6.7%
  • SRM:  5.70
  • IBU:  34.8
  • OG:  1.066
  • FG:  1.015

This recipe kit DOES NOT  include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags.  However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page. These yeasts may have different levels of attenuation which may result in slight variations in the final gravity.

Yeast Pitch Rate:  We highly recommend preparing a yeast starter or using 2 packets of yeast for this recipe due to the high original gravity (OG) in order to keep the yeast happy and healthy.

Whirlpool/Steeping Hops:  This recipe calls for first wort hops and whirlpool/steeping hops.  For simplicity, our IBU (Bitterness) calculations are based on steeping/whirlpooling hops at 194°F for 15-20 minutes.  Whirlpooling at different temperatures and for different lengths of time will impact flavor and aroma differently. For more information about first wort hops and steeping/whirlpool hops, please refer to the following American Homebrewers Association articles:

Priming Sugar:  For priming sugar, we recommend the following:

Grain & Hop Bags:  If you need a grain bag, we recommend the following:

Hop Straining Bags:  If you need hop straining bags, we recommend the following:

Kveik Yeast Option:  If you are feeling adventurous, consider using a Kveik yeast strain for your New England style hazy/juicy IPA.  Most of these yeasts provide plenty of fruity flavors and can handle temperatures above 90°F!  If you ferment these yeasts at higher temperatures, some of these strains will be done fermenting within 3-4 days.  Our Kveik yeast strains can be found here:  Kveik Yeast Strains

* We strongly recommend adding an ice pack when ordering liquid yeast.  Transit times can vary and liquid yeast works best when it remains cold until the day you brew.
