SoCo California Common (Steam Beer) - All Grain

A California Common (AKA Steam Beer). This beer is brewed with lager yeast at warmer temperatures. This type of beer was made popular during the late 1800's and early 1900's on the West Coast when refrigeration was not available.  A very refreshing and easy drinking beer that has a restrained hop bitterness and some caramel and spicy flavors coming from crystal and rye malts.

• ABV:  4.9%
• SRM:  9
• IBU:  36
• OG:  1.055
• FG:  1.017

This recipe kit DOES NOT  include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags.  However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page. These yeasts may have different levels of attenuation which may result in slight variations in the final gravity.  

Priming Sugar:  For priming sugar, we recommend the following:

• 5 oz Priming Sugar
• Carbonation Drops

Grain Bags:  If you need a grain bag, we recommend the following:

Hop Straining Bags:  If you need hop straining bags, we recommend the following:

* We strongly recommend adding an ice pack when ordering liquid yeast.  Transit times can vary and liquid yeast works best when it remains cold until the day you brew.
