SoCo British Strong Ale - Partial Mash

A strong English style ale with a dark hue, hints of chocolate and caramel, and earthy and woody hop flavors and aromas.  This 7.0% ABV ale is great if you want a beer stronger than an English bitter but not as strong as a barleywine.

Characteristics:

• 7.0% ABV
• 42.7 IBU
• 17.1 SRM
• 1.070 OG
• 1.017 FG

This recipe kit DOES NOT  include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags.  However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page.  These yeasts may have different levels of attenuation which may result in slight variations in the final gravity.

Yeast Pitch Rate:  We highly recommend preparing a yeast starter or using 2 packets of yeast for this recipe due to the high original gravity (OG) in order to keep the yeast happy and healthy.

Priming Sugar:  For priming sugar, we recommend the following:

• 5 oz Priming Sugar
• Carbonation Drops

Grain Bags:  If you need a grain bag, we recommend the following:

• Large Muslin Bag (Single Use)
• Jumbo Nylon Straining Bag (Reusable)

Hop Straining Bags:  If you need hop straining bags, we recommend the following:

• Small Muslin Hop Boiling Bag (Single Use)
• Fine Mesh Nylon Hop Bag With Drawstring (Reusable)

We highly recommend using 2 packets of yeast or preparing a starter for this recipe due to the high alcohol content so that the yeast remains happy and healthy.
