SoCo Black Licorice Porter - Partial Mash

Liquid Black Licorice.  This beer is packed with licorice flavor which comes with the addition of licorice root and star anise.  This beer also features chocolate and caramel malt flavors and is hopped with Cluster hops and Willamette Hops.

Characteristics:

• 6.4% ABV
• 30.2 IBU
• 32.8 SRM
• 1.062 OG
• 1.014 FG

This recipe kit DOES NOT  include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags.  However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page.  These yeasts may have different levels of attenuation which may result in slight variations in the final gravity.

Spice Additions:  Use 0.5 to 1 ounces of licorice root and 2 to 3 Star Anise stars.  Adding 0.5 ounces of licorice root and 2 star anise pods will provide moderate licorice flavors while adding 3 star anise stars and 1 ounce of licorice root will provide intense licorice flavors.

Priming Sugar:  For priming sugar, we recommend the following:

• 5 oz Priming Sugar
• Carbonation Drops

Grain Bags:  If you need a grain bag, we recommend the following:

• Large Muslin Bag (Single Use)
• Jumbo Nylon Straining Bag (Reusable)

Hop Straining Bags:  If you need hop straining bags, we recommend the following:

• Small Muslin Hop Boiling Bag (Single Use)
• Fine Mesh Nylon Hop Bag With Drawstring (Reusable)
