SoCo Quick Imperial Oktoberfest (Ale) - Partial Mash

A high ABV version of a German Oktoberfest.  This recipe is brewed with ale yeast instead of traditional lager yeast so that you can ferment quickly at warmer temperatures. This 8.1% ABV ale is malt forward with Pilsen, Munich, and Vienna base malts. Crystal 60L malt is added for color and to add malty caramel flavors.  Northern Brewer and Tettnang are used for bittering and light flavoring hops.

This recipe kit DOES NOT  include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags.  However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page. This recipe was designed using Wyeast Kolsch 2565. Other recommended yeasts will lead to slightly different final gravities that are determined by the yeast's attenuation level. 

Yeast Pitch Rate:  We highly recommend preparing a yeast starter or using 2 packets of yeast for this recipe due to the high original gravity (OG) in order to keep the yeast happy and healthy.

* We strongly recommend adding an ice pack when ordering liquid yeast.  Transit times can vary and liquid yeast works best when it remains cold until the day you brew.
