Lake Buchanan Imperial IPA - Partial Mash
A much bigger version of our Town Lake IPA with much higher alcohol content and . This 9.6% ABV Imperial IPA features Simcoe and Citra hops which provide plenty of citrus, pine, and grapefruit flavors and aromas.
If you would like a lighter alcohol version of this recipe kit, then consider the Town Lake IPA (5.7% ABV) or the Lake Travis Double IPA (7.9% ABV).
Whirlpool/Steeping Hops: This recipe calls for whirlpool/steeping hops which are added after the boil. For simplicity, our IBU (Bitterness) calculations are based on steeping/whirlpooling hops at 194°F for 15-20 minutes. Whirlpooling at different temperatures and for different lengths of time will impact flavor and aroma differently. This recipe kit DOES NOT include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags. However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page. These yeasts may have different levels of attenuation which may result in slight variations in the final gravity.
Yeast Pitch Rate: We highly recommend preparing a yeast starter or using 2 packets of yeast for this recipe due to the high original gravity (OG) in order to keep the yeast happy and healthy.
