Imperial Hefeweizen - All Grain

A very stong alcohol version of a traditional German Hefeweizen.  This 8% ABV ale uses German pilsen malt and white wheat malt along with German Northern Brewer and Hersbrucker hops.  Selecting one of the recommended German style hefeweizen yeasts will contribute the banana and clove flavors and aromas that you are familiar with when drinking a hefeweizen.

• 8.0% ABV
• 26.2 IBU
• 4.5 SRM
• 1.078 OG
• 1.018 FG

This recipe kit DOES NOT  include yeast, priming sugar or grain bags.  However, we do give you yeast options at the top of the page. This recipe was designed using Wyeast 3068 Weihenstephan liquid yeast.  Using an alternative yeast may result in slight variations in attenuation and final gravity.

Yeast Pitch Rate:  We highly recommend preparing a yeast starter or using 2 packets of yeast for this recipe due to the high original gravity (OG) in order to keep the yeast happy and healthy.

Priming Sugar:  For priming sugar, we recommend the following:

• 5 oz Priming Sugar
• Carbonation Drops

Grain Bags:  If you need a grain bag, we recommend the following:

Hop Straining Bags:  If you need hop straining bags, we recommend the following:

• Small Muslin Hop Boiling Bag
